Home Appliance Maintenance Tips That Save A Few Dollars

I admit that in the past I disregarded any tips related to the repair of home appliances because I did not like to deal with these home appliances. But sooner or later, the cost of the new equipment and the repairman’s bills began to cost our wallets. After that happened, I made up my mind to use some maintenance skills to enable my husband Dave and myself to do a better job and make the life of household appliances longer.

1. Clean the rubber gasket of the refrigerator

They say refrigerators and freezers have a lifespan of more than 10 years. To help you get the full useful life, make sure you regularly check the rubber gaskets on the refrigerator and freezer doors. Rinse food and debris occasionally with soap and water, then dry with a towel. This will help seal the door and trap all the cold air inside it for food.

2. Clean the microwave

Sometimes the microwave oven can be overworked. This just means that you have to double clean. Steam clean the water and lemon slices in a microwave-safe bowl, then heat them in the microwave. Water vapor will help make wiping easier.

3. Keep the dishwasher fresh
Specifically, please rinse 1 cup of vinegar in the dishwasher every week to keep it fresh. Just make sure there are no pans or plates in the dishwasher when you do this.

4. Clean the air conditioning filter

Clean the air conditioning filter every two to four weeks for optimal air circulation. If you have a reusable filter, use a vacuum cleaner to remove the dirt. On the other hand, if you have a disposable, just take it out and replace it with a new filter.

5. Remove breadcrumbs from the toaster

Most people don’t know that a toaster has a breadcrumb tray. If left unattended and spilled, fire may result. Based on how many times you use the toaster, I think it’s best to empty the crumb tray once a week.
6.Clean up stove spills

Spilled food will prevent the stove burner from turning on. To fix this, hold the toothbrush and gently brush the spill from the igniter.

7. Replace the water filter

Over time, the water filter may become clogged by trapping sediment, which makes it difficult for water to pass through. It is recommended to change the filter every 3-6 months or earlier, especially if you have noticed changes in water pressure and color.

8. Check the hoses of the washing machine

Check the hoses of the washing machine to prevent floods or leaks in the laundry room. Watch for cracks, weak points, and deformation. It is also a good idea to replace the hose every five years.

9. Heating clothes dryer

If you think your dryer might need a little extra help when heating your clothes, the solution might be to unblock the lint filter. You can add water to the filter before testing. If it’s full of water, it’s time to start cleaning. Using a hard kitchen brush, scrub the filter with a small amount of washing powder and hot water.

10. Keep the sharpness of disposal

This hack not only keeps your blade sharp, but it also gives your trash disposal a fresh smell. Put water and lemon slices in the ice tray and allow to freeze. After freezing, put in fruity ice cubes and start disposing.
Home appliance repairs are the key to saving money. Not only will you get the most out of your current equipment, but applying these maintenance tips will also allow you to repair almost everything with confidence. Don’t forget to try some maintenance tips during the spring cleaning season!
